Mandalay Bay Pool Area and Conference Center

Mandalay Bay Pool Area, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

We had fun in the Sun at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Everyday temperatures reached over 100 degrees. Best yet, it was next to the Mandalay Bay Conference Center.

Thanks to my Tech Travel Agent, Jessica, we were able to relax and not worry about my trade show technology like plasma flat screens and full surround sound for our multimedia demonstration. Everything arrived when it was supposed to, it worked and we even had a stand by tech in the event of a problem.

We had fun at the pool everyday.

Disc Golf

There is a new disc golf course with 24 ‘holes’ at the Monroe Community park. Disc golf is also known as frisbee golf. The goal is similar to regular golf, take as few shots as possible. The frisbee has to get caught in this contraption to be considered ‘in the hole.’

Bridle Reek of Monroe, Ohio

Bridle Reek of Monroe, Ohio, originally uploaded by John Beagle.

I live in the Bridle Creek community in Monroe, Ohio, a Drees Company Development. Someone, has stolen the “C”. So the sign reads ‘Bridle Reek.’

Very funny! ?

URG, no not really. Ever since I took this photo, the HOA (Homeowners Association) has been on my butt to not publish it. They say a photo like this will cause more vandalism in the community.

I said, leaving the sign this way is a constant reminder and a far greater urge to those who like to do funny things with signs.

After all, it is local news for Monroe, Ohio, a town of approximately 8000. I posted it on my website Main Street Monroe and people started talking about it on “The Voice.”

They concur, so now all the letters are being stored in a my garage untl the new ‘C’ comes in. Anthing to help my HOA.

Lake Cumberland Low Water Level

You can see ridges where the water level was before and during the damn lowering of the lake.

Lake Cumberland Facts (courtesy U.S. Army Corps of Engineers)

Lake Cumberland was filled with water in December 1950, and was constructed primarily for flood control and the production of hydroelectric power at a cost of about $80.4 million. Its shoreline measures 1,085 miles and the lake is spread over 50,250 acres at the top of the power pool.

Wolf Creek Dam ranks 22nd in the One Hundred Largest Dams in the U.S. and required 11,568,900 cubic yards of material in construction. It is over a mile long at 5,736 feet. (The concrete portion is 1,796 feet long; the earthfill portion, 3,940 feet.) It is 258 feet high at its tallest point.

The reservoir ranks 9th in the U.S. in size with a capacity of 6,089,000 acre-feet, enough water to cover the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky to a depth of 3 inches. That’s roughly 1.9 trillion gallons.

The six turbines at Lake Cumberland are capable of producing 270 megawatts of electricity, enough to supply the needs of an average city with a population of 375,000.

The power generating capacity is now considered “dead” because it is below 673 feet.

Saint Patrick’s Rock Cashel Roof Missing (Ireland)

The Cashel Roof was still missing when we last visited St. Patrick’s Rock Cashel. (Cashel means fortress in Irish). Nonetheless, it was an awsome site to behold.

I was almost Ran over by a Tank (Flying Screens)

You turn the corner and a tank is coming right at you. But that’s impossible, you’re at a trade show. How can that be? Answer: Its an amazing flying screen and it gets attention alright.

Colored lights can hipnotize and so are flying screens. Flying screens are suspended objects capable of displaying computer images and ever changing multi-colored lights from a variety of angles, heights and directions.

Flying screens are unique shapes that can be projected upon utilizing projectors and spotlights or they can be as simple as a 42″ Plasma Screen hanging from the ceiling or on a floor stand. Flying Screens appear to be just that, flying in your face.

Almost getting run over by a tank made me think about how important it is to have an active trade show booth. Attention getting images and sounds are your company’s image.

Next time run over compeition with a Flying Screen Tank.
